Not only a tour but your tour.
What plans we have for you?
We can meet in front of the Cleric’s Tower, I will be seated in the stairs and from there we will walk alongside the place where were the walls of the city that were dismantled to improve some facilities . We will visit a lot of places, some are free and others you may choose if you want to go inside or not, as we said this is a personalized tour we also know that different cultures have different interests and so we will talk about all the options. After a briefing about the iron age, Roman and Moorish occupation and about the battles we also had with Castilians, Napoleon or even the civil war you will also know about the development of the structure of the city where we had a river through the valley, a lot of monasteries, three walls (we found remains of a third one recently) and roman vestiges. You will find the main references of the city in a simplified tour for everyone who visit us with little time but want to enjoy the essential. |
We must also visit the S. Bento train station and know about his history, the site of a former Benedictine convent. This is also one of the landmarks of the city and one of the most beautifull train stations in the world. Back on the street go up to the Serrana café, one place forgotten by everyone, made by a very important architect in the city and then the Cathedral and the convent of Santa Clara to visit behind the remains of the walls . The tour goes on to the custom’s house (casa do Infante) to see roman mosaic and many other things like pottery, coins, tiles and something that worths by itself, an amazing model of the city like it was in the 15th century. by the way we will visit a lot of other things, other attractions and surprises and we will talk about their history and it will make you feel that you are part of Porto! This visit about 3:00 h ends along the river at Ribeira square. |
